tonight one of them IMs me “wanna fight?” out of the blue. i have never had contact with this dude, so i ask “about what.” which i think is an awesomely sassy response to such a dumb question.

so the dude clears up his request. he wants to spar. i ask “are you my size?” the dude is 6’2 220!! i laugh. for a long time. and tell the dude no fuckin way.

so the dude launches into the heartbreaking story of how he was always picked on as a kid and now he wants to learn to fight and how he wants to learn from a gay dude because straight guys picked on him and oh geez save me!

in my experience this is not unusual. i don’t know what it is about the gays. but the big guys (usually dudes about 250) always want to fight a little guy like me. and i wonder if it’s just because of what this guy was talking about. they were abused or picked on as little kids, and now that they’re big they wanna somehow get back at all those kids who picked on them by fighting someone they’re unlikely to lose to.

22-foot-tall giant robot sculpture made from scraps of...

22-foot-tall giant robot sculpture made from scraps of polystyrene packaging. now that’s some recycling

My buddy Nic wins the award for best pose with the eiffel tower....

My buddy Nic wins the award for best pose with the eiffel tower. glad nic and max are off covorting in paris.

Merrell Gatherer Jacket has specially designed compartments you...

Merrell Gatherer Jacket has specially designed compartments you can stuff things into (leaves? newspapers? shredded clothes?) for insulation when it’s cold out. then when it’s warmer, just empty the pockets out. one coat for all seasons. and it seems more ecologically friendly too.

Warren Ellis writes series of G.I.
